Tahir Hasanovic, a physicist, is a key figure in Serbia’s business and political elite. He held prominent positions in communist Yugoslavia, including President of the Belgrade University Students’ Association and the last “youth foreign minister” of ex-Yugoslavia. By age 30, he was a member of the Central Committee of the League of Communists. Additionally, Hasanovic co-founded and served as Secretary General of the opposition party New Democracy. After 2003, he focused on business, founding successful companies and serving on Centrobanka and the Railway Company boards. Active in Serbia’s social life through philanthropy and key memberships, he heads Serbia’s Masonic Lodge and promotes Serbia’s image abroad through the Tri-Lateral Commission and East-West Bridge. He maintains extensive contacts within Serbia and the former Yugoslavia, including interactions with top government and opposition leaders.
