Mario Monti is an Italian economist and statesman, currently Honorary President of the Institute for European Policymaking at Bocconi University. He served as Prime Minister of Italy from 2011 to 2013, leading a technocratic government during a period of significant economic challenge. He previously held senior roles within the European Commission, including European Commissioner for the Internal Market and European Commissioner for Competition, where he played a central role in shaping European competition policy and advancing the integration of the single market.

Professor Monti has served as Rector and President of Bocconi University and is a Senator for Life in the Italian Republic. Over the course of his career, he has combined academic leadership with high-level public service, contributing to debates on economic governance, European integration and global competitiveness. He remains an influential voice on the future of Europe and the role of economic policy in navigating structural transitions.
