Ambassador of Italy to Serbia
H.E. Luca Gori, born in Florence in 1968, is a seasoned Italian diplomat with nearly three decades of experience in foreign affairs. He assumed the role of Ambassador of Italy to Serbia in 2022.
Ambassador Gori joined the Italian Foreign Office in 1995 and has held senior assignments in Rome and abroad. His international postings include the Embassy of Italy in Moscow (1999–2003), the Permanent Representation of Italy to the EU in Brussels, where he served as delegate for the Balkans (2003–2007), and the Italian Embassy in Washington, D.C., as Head of Press and Public Affairs (2010–2014).
In Rome, he has served in several high-level roles, including in the Cabinet of the Foreign Minister as speechwriter (2007–2010, 2015–2016), as First Counsellor for the Mediterranean, Middle East, and Gulf at the Presidency of the Republic (2014–2015), and later as Deputy Political Director and Principal Director for Mediterranean, Middle East, and Gulf Countries at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2018–2021). From 2021 to 2022, he was Chief of Staff to the Deputy Minister.
Ambassador Gori is the author of numerous publications on European, transatlantic, and geopolitical affairs, including works on the Balkans, Russia, and Italian national interest. In 2021, he was awarded the title of Knight Officer of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic.
He graduated cum laude in Political Science from the University of Florence, pursued studies at the Sorbonne in Paris under the Erasmus Programme, and attended the School of Diplomatic Studies in Florence. He is fluent in Italian, English, French, and Russian.
Married to Eugenia and father of two children, Beatrice and Alessandro, he enjoys writing, reading, travelling, art, and sports, particularly football, basketball, and tennis.
